We’re recruiting on behalf of a Great Rail Journeys, a well‑established organisation in York city centre, for a Rail Operations Administrator to join their team on a 6‑month fixed-term contract. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment and has excellent attention to detail.
You’ll play a key role in supporting the safe, compliant and efficient running of rail operations — although this is not an essential requirement, it’s perfect for someone with previous rail experience or strong transferable skills from logistics, transport planning or safety‑critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinating rail service schedules, ensuring accurate and timely updates to customers and internal staff
- Processing rail movement documentation and operational records
- Liaising with rail operators, control teams and on‑site staff
- Monitoring compliance with rail safety procedures and reporting requirements
- Supporting incident logging, operational reporting and safety documentation
- Managing rail-specific systems, trackers and operational databases
General Administrative Duties:
- Handling incoming enquiries from customers as well as providing internal support
- Preparing reports, documentation and operational updates
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring data integrity
- Supporting wider operational and administrative tasks as required

- Able to work at pace and manage multiple tasks
